Titles updated on Footnote, week 49 »

3+5=2

Dec 10th, 2009 by sharbrough

Hmm. Now I see that the two titles are eight titles.

fn search eight titles

In the first usage, “titles” means “groups of titles” – in this case, naturalization indexes and naturalization records. In the second usage, it appears to be referring to a title.

I’ve written and lectured before about the multiple uses of the term “collection.” Flexible nomenclature appears to be a popular approach at Footnote. If you see terms that you find ambiguous on the site, let me know.
